Example Project - America-Israel Paper Mills (Manai)
Manai began operating in 1953 with one assembly line. Throughout the years, the company expanded into a wide variety of businesses. The pioneer of recycling in Israel, Manai has many subsidiaries, including: Amnir Recycling Industries Ltd., Hogla-Kimberly Ltd., Atar Paper Marketing 2000, and others.

Mixam
Mixam in Amharic means “the bee that sucks dew from the flower”. The Mixam in Givat Olga is a social center established by the local Ethiopian community. The center serves the entire community and offers a variety of cultural, artistic and educational activities, for both children and adults. Most of the activities at Mixam were initiated by the local committee, made up of new immigrants who volunteer their time and effort.

The Project
In the framework of Aleh, Manai decided to become involved in the Mixam through close cooperation with the community. The company provided the community with a building, and the employees and residents worked together to renovate the building and turn it into an impressive community center filled with a wide variety of activities. Since the building was officially inaugurated, the employees have participated in a number of social activities in the Mixam framework: They’ve worked with new immigrants, offered after-school tutoring, served as mentors for the children, etc. Over time the social ties between the Manai employees and the residents have grown and intensified, and today, every joint activity is initiated through full cooperation between the two groups.
